Woodfired forms in relationship
I build ceramic forms that lean, rest, and respond to one another, letting abstraction suggest presence and personality.
I create ceramic forms using both the wheel and handbuilding techniques, often incorporating drape molds to build simple shapes that become dynamic through shifts in perspective. These forms relate to one another—leaning, resting, or responding—creating quiet narratives through gesture, proximity, and space.
I’m drawn to the way abstraction can imply presence and personality, allowing forms to become subtly personified. All of my work is woodfired, a process that introduces variation and depth through flame, ash, and time. I’m especially drawn to the darkness revealed in reduction cooled surfaces that echo the introspective tone of the work and emphasize the emotional weight carried by form and relationship.
